After a free showcase concert for his label, Arista Records, earlier in the year, Alan Jackson returns to play the club in May. The crowd response was so enthusiastic, Jackson goes back to his tour bus after his show and writes the hit song “Dallas”. The song was released in 1991 and peaked at NO. 1, Jackson’s fourth No.1 single at the time.
Garth Brooks plays his last show at Billy Bob’s to date on November 21st. Garth Brooks is scheduled to play the State Fair of Texas in Dallas in October. Billy Bob’s in unable to promote the November date until Brooks takes the stage at the State Fair. To promote the show, Billy Minick hires an airplane to fly a banner announcing the Billy Bob’s date. Brooks notices the plane and it’s message. Enthusiastically, he points up, and says, “I guess you know where I’ll be playing next.” Tickets to the show sell out in 12 minutes the next day. To cap off the event, Brooks even judges a “Garth Brooks Look-Alike” contest.
