Texas rockers Whiskey Myers, whose tireless touring and escaped chain gang chemistry has earned them a place as one of the leading lights of Southern rock, are releasing their new album ‘Mud’ on 9/9 via Thirty Tigers. Recorded with producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell), ‘Mud’ is a reclamation of the swagger of Lyrnyrd Skynyrd and Black Sabbath-style riffage, buoyed by flourishes of shivering gospel organ, exuberant brass, and fiery fiddles.

‘Mud’ standout track “Lightning Bugs And Rain” just premiered via Rolling Stone Country, listen here: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hear-whiskey-myers-gritty-lightning-bugs-and-rain-20160628

‘Mud’ is a natural extension of the band’s raucous live sound and their dedicated approach to songcraft, from the ominous backroads buildup of album opener “On The River” to the screaming guitars on the Rich Robinson (Black Crowes) co-write “Frogman,” a desert-rock blues told from the perspective of a Navy SEAL missing the comforts of his southern home. Lead singer Cody Cannon emerges as a startlingly versatile songwriter, equally adept at writing a rollicking tribute to the country gateway drug that is Hank Williams (“Hank”) or a stately piano ballad that climaxes in a smoking hot twin guitar solo (“Stone”). And “Trailer We Call Home” proves Cannon has a gift for painting a portrait of working class struggles and the redemptive power of home.

Whiskey Myers’ 2014 album ‘Early Morning Shakes’ debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Chart and helped the hard-touring Texas natives become a national commodity, performing at huge festivals like Austin City Limits and SXSW and opening for the likes of Lyrnyrd Skynyrd, Eric Church, Hank Williams Jr. and Jamey Johnson. The band has earned praise from Esquire, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and more.

Whiskey Myers are in the midst of an extensive summer tour with multiple shows in their home state, Texas. They’ll also be joining Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry, and Halestorm on the Carnival of Madness Tour later this summer.

For the ‘Mud’ recording sessions, Whiskey Myers’ five founding members — Cody Cannon (lead vocals and guitar), Cody Tate (guitar), John Jeffers (guitar), Gary Brown (bass), and Jeff Hogg (drums) — fleshed out their sound with the addition of fiddler/keyboard player Jon Knudson and percussionist Tony Kent, who are both now full-time members.

‘Mud’ is available for pre-order now on Pledge Music. Limited edition packages include handwritten lyrics, signed vinyl test pressings, unlimited show passes, and more. Pre-order here: http://smarturl.it/WhiskeyMyersMUD
