Chef Chris Fersch and his team from the Honky Tonk Kitchen, Alex Walters and Brandon Brown, won both the Critic’s Choice and People’s Choice awards at the Fort Worth Weekly 5th Annual Cowtown Chili Cook-Off. This is the first time both awards were won by one participant!
The event benefitted Cook Children’s Hospital and included 10 celebrity chefs (BBQ on the Brazos, Bird Cafe, Birdie Bop, Central Market, Cowtown Brewing, Magdalena’s, Panther City BBQ, Smoke-A-Holics, Wild Acre Brewing Wishbone & Flynt) and five wild card chefs (360 Catering, Blended Family Foods, Fort Worth Fire Department Station 6, Rack Attack BBQ, and Zonk Burger).
Saturday night, after the event, Billy Bob’s Texas celebrated in true Honk Tonk fashion by drinking beer from the trophy on stage in front of 6000 of our closest friends.
But the real celebration comes next. Through the entire month of March, the Honky Tonk Kitchen will donate a portion of the proceeds from every bowl of award-winning chili purchased to Cook Children’s Hospital. “There is no better way to enjoy this win than by continuing to give back to our community partners,” says Fersch. Billy Bob’s Texas has a long history of partnering with Cook Children’s Hospital over the years and are thrilled at the opportunity to work with them again.
Come on down to the Honky Tonk Kitchen – open daily – for a delicious bowl of chili that will have a positive impact on the lives of children and families in Fort Worth.
